The James Gregory Show featuring "THE FUNNIEST MAN IN AMERICA" James Gregory

The James Gregory Show featuring "THE FUNNIEST MAN IN AMERICA" James Gregory

Date: June 6, 2015

Time: 8:00 PM - 9:15 PM EDT

Website: http://www.fuquaschool.com

Event Description:

Fuqua School is proud to host James Gregory, America's Clean Comedian. For over two decades, the unforgettable caricature of veteran comedian James Gregory has stood grinning: his shirt un-tucked, his arms outstretched, a carefree welcome to a down-home, hilarious comedy experience. It's storytelling at its best. The trademark caricature is the essence of James Gregory's comedy: rib-tickling reflections on life from the front porch. James is heard weekly on syndicated radio shows such as Rick and Bubba, John Boy and Billy and Bob and Tom. Combined, these shows are broadcast to people in over 220 cities nationwide. As a result, he now has a grass-roots following that numbers in the millions.

MacCallum More Museum & Gardens presents: Dr. Charles Koutnki

Every year since its inception in 2011,The Chase City Art Club and its Federation of Artist Members has embarked on transforming communities through art projects, art exhibits and art workshops. For these artists the preservation of regional art forms is important to continued art traditions. Members are constantly in the forefront of creating 21st century masterpieces and forging new art trends. From dance performances to oil painting and color pencil workshops, this organization strives to share the beauty of all art forms, with the public. The hope is that, as we are moved by art we are enhanced as individuals.

This year the Chase City Art Club has reached beyond its borders, again and is pleased to present to Mecklenburg County, a world class photographer, author and librarian: Mr. Charles J. Koutnik. On Thursday, July 9, 2015 Mr. Koutnik, will speak in Chase City, on the Culture and History of American Photography, begining with John Quincy Adams and ending with Ansel Adams. The University Lecturer will follow the development  of photography from the first Daguerreotype to the present Digital age. The earliest confirmed photograph of an American President is of John Quincy Adams taken sitting down and looking very stern in 1843. The object of Mr. Carles Koutnik is to document and preserve the history of American photography, an art that is slowly dying out. This unique lecture and wokshop will look at Kodak, moving pictures and photo journalism. Mr. Koutnik will share and tell the story of American life through the lense as seen by Alexander Gardner, Paul Caponigro, Matthew Brady, Timothy O'Sullivan, Alfred Stiglitz, Edward Weston, Louis Hine, Dorothea Lange, Sally Mann, Lee Friedlande, Newhall and many other important photographers.

In the words of Ansel Adams: "No man has the right to dictate what other men should perceive, create or produce, but all should be encouraged to reveal themselves, their perceptions and emotions and to build confidence in the creative spirit".  Mr. Koutnick, the photographer hopes to inspire those artists interested in photography to continue taking pictures. In addition, this wonderful lecturer will cover other related subjects such as photographing landscapes, camera work, seeing war for the first time and much more. Attendees will also get a glimpse into the manipulation of film and print. The Lecture will end with an afternoon workshop and a look into making good photographs. Everyone will get an opportunity to present a photograph of their own or of another for discussion. Mr. Charles J. Koutnik will share some of his own award winning photographs.

This one day only, fantastic Photography Event will be held at MacCallum More Museum and Gardens from (9 am to 4 pm ). All wishing to attend must sign up in advance. The Fee is $120.00 and must also be paid prior to attendance. Checks should be made out to MacCallum More Museum and Gardens.  It you are a photographer, artist or individual interested in joining us for this special event, please contact Elsa Cristina Gailor , President of the Chase City Art Club at 434-262-8560 ( c ) or Liz at MMMG at 434-372-0502.
